Scootaround and WHILL Trial Model Ci Power Chair Service at Tampa International Airport

December 9, 2021

Tampa, FL – December 10, 2021 – Scootaround and WHILL are bringing enhanced personal mobility to passengers at Tampa International Airport. The trial program, which runs until December 10th, allows users to hop on a WHILL Model Ci power chair and use it to navigate the terminal independently. Traditionally, passengers with mobility limitations are pushed in a manual wheelchair by an airline staff member.

The Model Ci power chairs are free to use – the passenger simply enters their name and flight info and then are free to drive around the terminal.

TPA Spokesperson Ashley Iaccarino says that the service allows users to “stop along the way, grab some food, go to a restaurant, use the restroom, and really have the flexibility in their control and independence.”

This initiative is part of Scootaround and WHILL’s larger goal of improving the current travel landscape for mobility device users by providing them with greater freedom.

Airports and large venues who would like to learn more about this program are encouraged to reach out to [email protected] for more information.
